Record-Breaking Stat Line Nets Win
Spurs Overcome Nuggets in Convincing Fashion
On Friday, July 28, 2023, Anthony Edwards led the Minnesota Timberwolves to a 109-107 win over the Portland Trail Blazers. In the process, Edwards made NBA history by becoming the first player to record a stat line of at least 40 points, 15 rebounds, and 5 assists in a single game.
Edwards finished the game with 40 points, 19 rebounds, 8 assists, and 3 blocks. He was also a perfect 8-8 from the free throw line.
"It's a surreal feeling," Edwards said after the game. "I never thought I'd be able to accomplish something like this. I'm just so grateful to my teammates and my coaches for helping me get to this point."
Edwards' record-breaking performance comes at a time when he is quickly emerging as one of the best young players in the NBA. In his second season with the Timberwolves, Edwards has averaged 24.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game.
The Timberwolves are now 2-0 on the season and will look to continue their winning ways when they host the Denver Nuggets on Sunday.
